Mrs. Russo read us a book called Aaaaaaaargh, Spider! 15 people are afraid of spiders. 5 are not. We drew scary spiders.

Arts Umbrella
We went to the art room on Thursday and painted with two artists from Arts Umbrella. They read us a story called Picture a Tree by Barabra Reid. We drew our own trees with pastels and painted them. We tried to use ten different colours.
The inspiration...

Night Time Pumpkins
We drew pumpkins and leaves with black oil pastels. Then we painted them using only red, yellow and blue paint! It was like magic. Mixing colours is fun. This activity was inspired by Deep Space Sparkle's lesson on starlit pumpkins.
Red + Yellow = Orange Pumpkins
Blue + Yellow = Green Leaves
Red + Blue + Yellow = Brown Stems
Red + Blue + Yellow = Brown Stems
We used chalk pastels to add details. We smudged our moons to make them glow.
Aren't they beautiful!

Friendship Fruit Salad
This week we read some beautiful books on being thankful. The children wrote and drew about things they are thankful for. Then, square by square, Our Thankful Quilt was made. We also went for a fall walk this week to collect leaves for an art project. The colourful leaves were transformed into turkey feathers! Gobble gobble. Those are some adorable turkeys! Today we made fruit salad and celebrated friendship and family. Happy Thanksgiving!
Marshmallow Poppers
The marshmallow poppers are made from plastic cups and balloons. We took them outside to experiment with force and motion. First we used a little force by pulling the balloon back just a bit before launching. Then we used a lot of force by pulling the balloon back as far as we could. What do you think happened?
Then we had a competition to see who could launch their marshmallow the farthest. Congratulations to Valentina whose marshmallow traveled almost forty (of Mrs. Russo's) feet. Then we went inside to record our findings.
